A year-in-review

2009 kinda kicked ass

2009 kinda kicked ass

This past year pretty much rocked. And the New Year came in fine manner.  No kisses, but a bonfire amid the palm trees (above), new friends, lobster, a decent cigar (thanks, C!), champagne and even the Harry Connick, Jr., band playing Auld Lang Syne at midnight (never leave home without the iPod).

I meant to post this sooner, but here’s a little look back at my new life (as chronicled on this blog):

I got a new camera and entered the world of HD video.

I quit my job to each peaches and begin traveling.

I went to Kenya, got stalked by children, played with wild animals (including a kick-ass leopard), followed an NGO performing circumcisions, hung out with the Maasai, wandered through the slums of Nairobi and made new friends.

I ate great food in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, enjoyed fantastic sunsets in far-flung areas, toured a mine that claims to be eco-friendly and followed around conservationists. Oh, yeah, I played with lemurs, lemurs and more lemurs.

Once in India, I got down with the desi folk on Halloween, had work published from Kenya and India, fell in love with a girl named Chicken Tikka Roll, learned the evils of JPMorgan Chase Bank, stared at fireworks, celebrated Christmas in my own way, spent a lot of time on trains, went dark on remote islands, harassed some hermit crabs, stomped through the jungle and discovered an obsession with scuba diving.

It’s been a damn good time.

Adam, you can certainly say you are really living…living life to the fullest! Your journeys and your blogs about them are fascinating sitting in my office thousands of miles away, with freezing rain pelting the windows. Looking forward to more of your stories! Happy New Year, Adam
