Tools of the trade

All of Delhi is being rebuilt — a combination of the country’s new wealth and the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Even parts of the historic Qutub Minar complex are getting a facelift. This is from some renovation and restoration going on near the college and tomb of Alauddin Khalji.
David, Kate and Joel came along as well. I relished access to the World Heritage Site for the fantastic price of Rs. 10. Thank you, once again, Indian government for treating me like a local.
The first time I came, in 2002, I paid the Rs. 250 foreigner price. I deserved that, especially considering that I didn’t even know what the complex was and later labeled photos from that trip as if they were taken at a different Delhi landmark, the Raj Ghat.
Note: I frequently use popular and common Delhi-wallah spellings of words like Qutub Minar and Alauddin Khalji, rather than whatever Wikipedia thinks is appropriate.
