Cheating on my kebabwallah

Old Delhi kebabs

I don’t hide the fact that I have a special relationship with my kebabwalla, but my outlet of choice, however, closed down this spring and I’ve been relegated to a getting my fix at a different, less convenient branch (that I swear just isn’t as good).

Given that, I took a visiting friend up to Old Delhi to the celebrated Karim’s Hotel kebab joint in the bylanes outside Jama Masjid. Karim’s is a legend in Delhi culinary circles and certainly deserves some of it’s fame.

We picked up chicken seekh rolls (for my friend) and paneer tikka for me.

It was good, that’s not in doubt, but it still can’t match my Aap ki Khatir. I’m almost relieved. Visiting any other kebab stand just feels like an illicit tryst.

Your mission in D.C.: Find paneer tikka and/or good kebabs. Then tell me where to go.

Dear Adam If this is Aap ki khatir from khan markeg then please read on:

This is the original…..i guess they had some dispute with the aap ki khatir at nizamuddin so they had to let go of the name.
They claim to have shifted to SDA near green park……i went there and could not get a clear answer as to whether they are from khan market on not. They were agreeing that they were from khan market but at the same said that there were no good cooks at khan market……very confusing indeed. I guess they agree of being the one from khan market because that outlet made great food and still enjoys goodwill.
I soke to SHOHAIB of the SDA outlet and he said that the people at the market stole their name(from nizamuddin) and made inferior food and ultimately lost some legal battle over the name and had to run! !!!!!!!
The people who have eaten at khan market will vouch for great taste, good quality……
Therefore, i wonder what the reality is and who and where are the guys from AAP KHATIR! KHAN MARKET are?
    Somebody please clear this mystery.

I’m stumped. The best kabab on earth came from Aap ki khatir at Khan Market before it closed. The SDA location, if it is indeed the folks from Khan Market, is not as good.

And Nizamuddin East is really only a close second.
